The idea came over the transom to create a magazine with a theme that would resonate with our alumni, bringing back fond memories of their time as students. My colleagues in the alumni office put together a Top 100 list. From that, we narrowed the list down to what we thought we could showcase in eight pages.
I wanted the layouts to be very playful. I art-directed some new photoshoots, and we used some existing images. The cover and article were a huge hit, and some young alumni said it was the best SHU magazine ever. We often find reprints of the article and large posters of the magazine pages displayed around campus.
We also added enhanced content to the magazine website, so you can watch videos produced in conjunction with the article.
